ICSE syllabus to align with CBSE’s
In a bid to standardize education and to align with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) board has revamped its syllabus, infrastructure and training methods.
Why has ICSE made the changes
Enabling students to tackle competitive exams conducted by the CBSE : Specimen question papers on recall, understanding, application, analysis and evaluation in the subjects physics, chemistry, biology, and maths have been prepared on the CBSE pattern.
Ensuring conformity to current educational trends and to make the syllabus relevant, flexible, and meaningful in content: Class X (ICSE) syllabi for history, civics, geography, maths and physics have been reviewed for 2018 exams.
Standardization of requirements for University and Allowing the subjects to be regarded as electives : The breakup of marks of the theory and practical components at the Icse level, for some subjects like computer science and fashion designing has been revised. The existing mark breakup of 50% theory and 50% practical has now been changed to 70% theory and 30% practical. This change will be effective from the ISC Year 2016 Examination onwards. This is also consistent with the requirements of many Universities for higher education after Class XII.
